Hippo Water Saver Offer
For those of you who read our recycling at Christmas article, you will recall one of the items discussed was a solution to reduce the amount of water we use in flushing our toilets. Did you know that in the UK, every person uses on average 155 litres of water a day, compared to developing countries that only use 20 litres!”
What is a Hippo?
Hippo is made from durable heavy gauge Polyethylene, which opens up, origami
style, into an open ended box shape when installed. The Hippo happily sits in
the water underneath the large cistern float. When the toilet is flushed, the
water confined within the Hippo is the volume saved. The Hippo also has a small
hole which acts as a relief valve allowing slow circulation of water to prevent
stagnation and evaporation. Hippo the Water Saver is the simple, proven and
low cost water saving device to help conserve water in toilet cisterns.

Are Hippo's effective in the home?
Each Hippo will save on average 3 litres of water (appoximately 33% of the cistern
volume) every time a toilet is flushed. Independent research has shown Hippo
will provide a 10-15% saving on total water use.
Are Hippo's effective in the workplace?
33% of your precious water supply is unnecesarily flushed down the toilet. In
the workplace each employee uses the toilet about 3 times each day and over
a working year this amounts to 6000 litres (6 cubic metres) of water.
What are the financial benefits?
Whether Hippo's are being bought for your home or for your workplace, the pay
back period on your initial investment is between 8 - 12 weeks. Thereafter you
will enjoy a regular cost saving on your bills. Hippo's installed in the average
home provide a saving on your metred bills of approximately £20 per annum.
In the workplace the typical cost saving will be £3 per employee/annum
– that's a £3000 saving if you have 1000 employees!!
Can I put Hippo's into my cisterns?
Yes - but its more effective in older cisterns which use 9 to 12 litres per
flush. Cisterns made after 1993 are designed to use less water, although Hippo
is known to be highly effective in these smaller volume cisterns also. Hippo's
can be adjusted in seconds to suit small volume cisterns or any cistern with
an already poor flush performance.
How long will my Hippo last?
Indefinitely – Hippo's are manufactured from Polyethylene and when immersed
in the confines of the toilet cistern, they are designed to last a lifetime.
