Supporting Older People Across Basingstoke
Basingstoke NeighbourCare is a much-loved local charity that has been supporting older people across the borough since 1997. Its aim is simple but vital: to help people remain independent, connected, and safe in their own homes.
The charity offers a wide range of practical and social support. Its volunteer driving service helps people who find it difficult to get out and about, providing transport to medical appointments, shopping trips and social activities. For those who live alone, the befriending service offers regular weekly visits from a friendly volunteer, helping to reduce loneliness and build meaningful connections.
The charity also provides a handyperson and gardening service, carrying out small household repairs and garden maintenance such as lawn cutting, hedge trimming and weeding, helping to make homes safer and more enjoyable.
Citizens Advice will be joining NeighbourCare at Hill Rise Hall on the second and fourth Wednesdays in March, April and May, offering confidential one-to-one advice on benefits, housing, debt and health issues.
